Definition: Ovulation is the cyclic release of an egg from a single ovarian follicle. Ovulation usually occurs about 14 days prior to menstruation. PMS and PMDD symptoms occur only after ovulation takes place.

Ovulation usually occurs without any symptoms; however, some women experience pain during ovulation.
