Pineal Gland

Definition: The pineal gland is part of the endocrine system. A small cone-shaped organ located in the cerebrum, the pineal gland produces the hormone melatonin, which regulates the sleep/wake cycle. Additionally, the pineal gland helps regulate blood pressure, body temperature, motor function, growth and sexual development.
