Adrenal Glands

Definition: The adrenal glands are part of the endocrine system. The two triangle-shaped adrenal glands are located at the top of each kidney. Hormones produced by the adrenal glands are adrenaline, noradrenalin, cortisol, androgens, estrogen and progesterone. The adrenal glands help regulate heart rate, blood pressure, metabolism, sexual function, stress, body fluids and salt levels.
